Description
Poster #742
This counseling poster reduces emotional pain. That’s why this poster exists. It exists to help all the students, teens and adults who have had to face down abuse, crises or grave personal trauma. It’s a must-have for therapists, social workers, counselors and mental health clinicians. It’s also an important addition to classrooms, schools, colleges, universities, mental health treatment programs, child residential care facilities and drug treatment programs.
The poster says: Leave your pain here. And go out and do magnificent things.
At the sentencing of a former USA Gymnastics doctor who sexually abused over 150 girls and women, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina told one survivor those words. That means this poster is especially made for students, patients and clients who face similar challenges to overcome. The judge’s words are meant to inspire, soothe, comfort and motivate survivors of abuse, tragedy, loss, abandonment or other sorrow. You can see why this poster is a must-have for many professionals who counsel, treat, teach or work with children, teens or adults who have painful pasts that seem to be intruding on both the present and future.
When children or adults with painful pasts, seek to ease their pain, it is often a slow, up and down process. Almost anything can trigger a set-back. But, almost anything can potentially trigger insight, hope and determination. That’s why we created Poster #742. This unusual, unexpected poster can become one of those things that trigger insight, hope and determination. We worked hard to create a counseling poster to reduce emotional pain for those who view it.
People who view the poster are not likely to recognize the judge’s name or her quote. When the context is offered, it can have a lot of impact. Also, once viewers of the poster understand the full context, they may notice that they are not all alone in their struggle– that others have faced similar difficulties and found ways to still triumph and to “go out and do magnificent things.” This counseling poster exists only to reduce the emotional pain that survivors experience. It was designed by the experts here at Youth Change Workshops who specialize on helping survivors of serious abuse. Our hope is that this counseling poster will be of help, solace and comfort to all who view it. Our hope is that survivors who view the poster, will feel a kinship with the brave, courageous gymnasts who spoke out on the most difficult challenge of all.
