Poster #638 – Welcome to School Classroom Poster for Diverse Students

Description

Poster #638

During times that racial tensions peak, hostility towards immigrants is heightened, and religious intolerance is a big concern, school teachers and principals must make an extra effort to encourage all their students to still come to school. Words are often not enough to accomplish that task. Poster #638 uses visuals to send a loud and clear "Welcome to School" message that may be vital for children of color, new immigrants, Muslim students, children of other varied religions, students with language limitations and youngsters who are in some way different than the majority culture.

Poster #638 is part of a group of three "Welcome to School" posters that are especially designed to be your outreach to diverse students and their families. These posters may work better than just words that are spoken and gone. These posters are your 24/7 welcoming committee. Poster #638 is part of a small group of Welcome to School posters. There are three companion posters in this series from Youth Change Workshops; click on a link to view each poster: Poster #637, Poster #638 and Poster #640. You will maximize your message of welcome by posting all three posters. The posters are ideal for any K-12 school lobby, hallway, classroom, office, foyer, cafeteria or gym.

Poster #638 reads: Wherever in the world you come from, you are welcome at our school.

Leave no doubt in the minds of your students as to whether your school is a  hostile or friendly place for them. Reassure them with "Welcome to School" posters that feature faces like their's, and clearly demonstrate that your school is intended to be a place of safety and peace for them.

Education is so important for every youngster. Schools cannot let diverse, immigrant or ELL students just slip away because they are not sure that they are welcome in this country or at your school. Set the record straight by posting Poster #638 in all your classrooms and throughout your school.
