To register to earn 1 optional college graduate credit or 10 optional OSPI Washington State Teacher Clock Hours while attending Youth Change’s Portland, Oregon in-person workshop, select one of the page links from the list shown directly below.

You can choose to take the course for 1 grad credit in either the Education Counseling Department or the Special Education Department, or, Washington State teachers, school counselors and other educators can choose to take this course for 10 Washington State OSPI Teacher Clock Hours. Credit and Washington State Teacher Clock Hours are provided by Seattle Pacific University.

Credit costs $55 and OSPI Teacher Clock Hours tuition is $20, payable to SPU via credit or debit cards online at their site. Links for these options are directly below on this page.

When you arrive in Portland for the workshop, please take a moment to read the large sign on the wall of the training room to review the specific course requirements and deadlines for earning 1 SPU credit or 10 Washington State Educator OSPI clock hours. A brief summary is also below. Seattle Pacific University’s policies are on the course registration page. Please note: You must register and pay SPU for optional grad credit or optional Washington State Teacher Clock Hours by the end of the first day of the course. You must also be sure to register to attend the Portland, Oregon Breakthrough Strategies to Teach and Counsel Troubled Youth Portland workshop here. You are required to attend both days of the Portland course in order to earn 1 graduate college credit or 10 Washington State Educator OSPI Clock Hours.

SPU College Graduate Credit

  • Attend two days
  • Take the pre- and post-tests and submit by deadline shown on the wall sign, normally two weeks after the course ends.
  • Create a list of 50 more effective Coping, School and Social Skills strategies from the course.
  • Snail mail your homework to Youth Change Workshops by the deadline shown on the wall sign. Normally, that is two weeks after the class ends. Send your assignments to: Youth Change, 275 N. Third St., Woodburn, OR 97071. Please retain a copy of your submission and send via regular first class mail. Do not send your homework with a signature required request as that will likely cause a delay, or prevent us from receiving your materials. We are not able to accept submissions via email or fax but you can  request confirmation of receipt by email.
  • SPU requires that we grade you based on your performance at the time your homework assignment is due. If you will need more time, simply mail –not email, as we have to keep copies– your request for an extension. Normally, requests are granted and you’ll receive an Incomplete grade initially. You normally are granted six more months. Our address is on the cover of your workbook.
  • If  you need a transcript, contact SPU. SPU will transmit your grade to you but note that you must wait to request your transcript until after your grade has been posted.

  • SPU will send you documentation of 10 earned Washington State Teacher Clock Hours. Please direct any questions about documentation to SPU.
